Welcome to Miakoda: Where Comfort Meets Consciousness

Welcome to Miakoda: Where Comfort Meets Consciousness

Miakoda was born from a simple idea: what we wear should feel good in every way—physically and mentally.

Founded by sisters Julia Ahrens and Laura James, Miakoda began when we couldn’t find clothing that aligned with our values. We wanted clothes that were eco-friendly, vegan, ethically made in the USA, and most importantly—comfortable. With a lack of options that met all those criteria, we decided to create our own. Today, Miakoda is run by Julia, with Laura cheering her on from the sidelines, just as sisters do.

Both of us live with chronic illnesses, which makes dressing comfortably not a luxury but a necessity. When you’re uncomfortable, it’s easy to become irritable or disconnected from your day. So, comfort became our focus—from buttery-soft fabrics to stretchy waistbands and relaxed silhouettes that move with you. Our pieces are designed to gently hug or drape, depending on what your body needs.

But comfort goes beyond the physical. There's a mental ease that comes with knowing your clothing was made responsibly. When you wear something that doesn’t align with your values, you feel it—whether you realize it or not. That’s why every Miakoda piece is made with a commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. Every stitch supports fair wages, minimal waste, and compassionate choices that are kind to people, animals, and the planet.

Sure, you might be able to find a similar item for a cheaper price. But someone, somewhere, is paying for that low price tag—whether it’s an underpaid garment worker or the environment. We believe in a better way, and we’re grateful you do too.

Thank you for being here, and thank you for trusting us to keep you comfy—inside and out.

Welcome to the Miakoda family!
